GENERAL INFO

TORSIONAL STIFFNESS

Torsional stiffness is non-linear. Couplings have been designed to deflect about 1 when 40% of rated torque is applied. A deflection of about 2'C can be expected when applying 100% of rated torque. Under shock-load conditions a deflection of 5'C is likely when rated torque is ex ceded by 300%.The maximum deflection is in region of 15'C. Our coupling therefore offers excellent shock load absorption capability

General characteristics

The internal profile is such that there is a natural tendency for the flexible medium to maintain the relative normal position between metal components. The flexible medium is anti static and oil resistant. It is also unaffected by ambient temperatures up to 90'C

ADVANTAGES

  • Low installation time
  • maintenace-free operation
  • High quality materials

MISALIGNMENT

It is always good practice to align shafts as much as possible in all planes. The physical characteristics of the ludas coupling are such that alignment is made simple because of reference faces on all planes. Where misalignment cannot be avoided, our coupling offers considerable forgiveness due to its ability to accept such misalignment . PARALLEL misalignment: capacity varies from 1.5mm to 4mm from the Fx 1008 to the Fx 5050 respectively ANGULAR misalignment: it is not advisable to exceed a deviation in excess of 5C END FLOAT : the ability to accept end float will surprise most users. For the smallest unit, 3mm are well within range. This figure can safely be increased to 5mm for the largest unit .Higher values are possible but not recommended

INSTALLATION

1__Firmly secure one half of the coupling to one shaft

2__Install the other half lightly on the remaining shaft, more or less in the planned final position

3__Bring the driving and driven units in line. The LUDAS coupling makes this very simple,as there are reference faces in all panels

4__Once the driving and driven units are properly in line, the half coupling referred to in "4" can now be loosened to allow the flanges to be bolted together

5__Firmly secure the latter half coupling to the shaft

SPECIFICATION

COUPLING SELECTION

The following information must be available when selecting a coupling for a given installation:

  • R.P.M
  • Driving and driven shaft diameters.
  • Power to be transmitted (K.W)
  • Characteristics of the load eg: is it constant, variable, intermittent,is the system subjected to shock loading etc.
